Chartres Cathedral has been welcoming Christian pilgrims from all over the world for more than a 1000 years.
Alone, or in groups, sometimes walking huge distances, they come to pray to the Virgin Mary.

From the statue Notre-Dame Sous-Terre, venerated since time immemorial, to the Veil of the Virgin, the principal relic, which was given to the Cathedral in the 9th century, not to mention the stained-glass windows, everything here reminds us that this sanctuary is dedicated to the mother of Jesus Christ.

Numerous pilgrimages are organised throughout the year.
